i stopped lying at a young age because i realized i couldn't remember the stories i made up. the only way to keep things straight is to tell the truth. truth can be twisted to your own means but avoid it. avoid it as much as possible. the less you lie the more guilty you feel about "just kidding" and that makes you fib less and makes you aware of others trying to get you to lie, regardless of how small. it's so easy to be bad but there's no good in it. in this world or the next.
